About Us

ACSI-K9 is a company with 14 years of experience in working and breeding Belgian Malinois. We currently also breed German Shepherds and Dutch Shepherds, all from working breeds. We import our dogs directly from Europe, ensuring they come from recognized working breeds with high-quality genetics.

Our facilities span 30,000 square meters across two properties, which include various types of kennels, living areas, recreational spaces, and training fields. Our team employs internationally experienced trainers who are experts in canine work.

We offer specialized training for detection dogs, including narcotics, firearms, and explosives detection, as well as perimeter, family, and corporate protection. We also offer full packages for obedience training and hotel services.

Additionally, we also sell fully trained dogs in any of the mentioned areas, as well as puppies from any of our breeds.

Our Team

The ACSI-K9 team is composed of highly skilled professionals with over 25 years of combined experience in canine work. Each trainer brings a lot of expertise in various disciplines, from obedience and behavioral rehabilitation, to detection and protection training. With deep understanding of canine psychology and behavior, our team is equipped to handle a wide range of training needs, from family pets to elite working dogs.

Alberto Soto

Trainer

Alberto is a Certified Guns Instructor, Owner and Head Instructor of ACSI Academy. He started in the dogs business in his early 30, and fell in love with the job. Founded ACSI-K9 in 2010 around the idea of importing the best and highest-quality Belgian Malinois from Europe, giving him the opportunity to breed, train, and sell the best working dogs in Costa Rica. Since then, ACSI-K9 has been providing services to both public and private Law Enforcement Units in Costa Rica, as well as exporting elite working dogs to multiple countries around the world.

Sergio Meléndez

Trainer

Sergio is a retired Sergeant from the Mexican Army, in which he was also a dog trainer and handler. His training and experiences in the army, alongside with his passion about dogs helped him to have a deep understanding of dog psychology, providing him a wide range of skills that allow him to train dogs in any area, from obedience and rehabilitation, to protection and detection. Sergio stands out for "creating" very well balanced dogs that will respond in any situation, but also allowing their owners to have peace of mind that they owned a well-mannered balanced dog that can interact with the world.

Willi Astudillo

Trainer

Willi has more than 20 years of experience and a deep passion for canine behavior, and he is also passionate about IGP Canine Sports. He specializes in obedience training, but can also support the team in any other area of the services provided. Wil has a unique approach that combines traditional techniques with modern methods, allowing him to identify the needs of every dog, providing an specialized and custom training for each dog and their owner, based on trust, respect and discipline. Whether working with family pets or specialized working dogs, his commitment to excellence ensures outstanding results every time.
